Chokoloskee Island is at the southern terminus of Route 29, approximately five miles south of Route 41 and three miles south of Everglades City, the Western Gateway to Everglades National Park.

Chokoloskee Island directions:

  • To Chokoloskee from Marco Island: Take Route 92 out of Goodland, until it ends at the intersection with Route 41. Turn right, headed east on Route 41. Continue for approximately 25 miles to the intersection with Route 29. Turn right, heading south on Route 29 for approximately three miles to Everglades City. At the traffic circle, go 3/4 of the way around, continuing south on Route 29 (also known as Copeland Ave.). The Everglades National Park Visitors Center is ahead on the right, at one end of the causeway connecting Chokoloskee Island to civilization. From other end of the causeway on the island side until your tires are in the Gulf of Mexico, you're on Smallwood Drive in Chokoloskee.
  • To Chokoloskee from Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Tampa: Take Route 41 east OR take I-75 east to their respective intersections/exits with/to Route 29 south. Turn right, heading south on Route 29. From Route 41, continue for approximately three miles into Everglades City. From I-75, continue for approximately 20 miles into Everglades City. At the traffic circle, go 3/4 of the way around, continuing south on Route 29 (also known as Copeland Ave.). The Everglades National Park Visitors Center is ahead on the right, at one end of the causeway connecting Chokoloskee Island to civilization. From other end of the causeway on the island side until your tires are in the Gulf of Mexico, you're on Smallwood Drive in Chokoloskee.
  • To Chokoloskee from Miami: Take Route 41 west approximately 75 miles through the Everglades to its intersection with Route 29. Turn left, heading south on Route 29 for approximately three miles into Everglades City. At the traffic circle, go 3/4 of the way around (270 degrees), continuing south on Route 29 (also known as Copeland Ave.). The Everglades National Park Visitors Center is ahead on the right, at one end of the causeway connecting Chokoloskee Island to civilization. From other end of the causeway on the island side until your tires are in the Gulf of Mexico, you're on Smallwood Drive in Chokoloskee.
  • To Chokoloskee from Fort Lauderdale: Take I-75 north approximately 70 miles to the Route 29 exit. Turn left, headed south on Route 29 for approximately 20 miles into Everglades City. At the traffic circle, go 3/4 of the way around (270 degrees), continuing south on Route 29 (also known as Copeland Ave.). The Everglades National Park Visitors Center is ahead on the right, at one end of the causeway connecting Chokoloskee Island to civilization. From other end of the causeway on the island side until your tires are in the Gulf of Mexico, you're on Smallwood Drive in Chokoloskee.
